DAVID CRUZ
I am a creative thinker and goal-oriented senior graphic designer. I currently work full time at Sutter Health’s Marketing department as member of its Creative Services team; a fast-paced, dynamic in-house design team. I'm an essential part of shaping and executing the design direction of Sutter's brand by being in charge of a wide range of design projects for its Greater Silicon Valley Market (facilities in San Mateo, Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties) and its Greater East Bay Market (facilities in Alameda and Contra Costa counties). Besides being a full time designer, I’m also owner of Tonalli Design, my freelance design business.
I can work independently and as a team member. I am capable of demonstrating initiative, leadership, problem solving, production and multitasking skills. I'm very reliable, resourceful and meticulous, able to handle multiple and diverse projects, under pressure, while maintaining a positive, professional and engaging attitude. I have extensive knowledge of the print and design industries and always find a way to provide outstanding, creative and simple solutions that support and establish brand position. I'm also bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish.
I have been involved in graphic design for more than 20 years. Design is one of my passions in which I strive to exceed client’s expectations with a strong, proactive and effective execution of design standards, concepts, principles and techniques along with a precise approach to project management and job tracking workflow, processes and tools. I pay extreme attention to detail and have excellent production and organization skills. I am able to efficiently prioritize assignments to ensure deadlines are met to deliver all tasks in accordance with project schedules, budget and overall brand and business strategy. I always look forward to a new design and marketing challenge.
TONALLI DESIGN
The word tonalli (to-nal-li) comes for the Nahuatl (nah-waht-l), which is the language the Aztecs spoke. It means solar energy, life energy and daylight. In the Aztec mythology and religious beliefs, tonalli is one of three energy essences a human being has and it’s located at the top of the head, it governs fate in life, what we're destined to do and what actions are most auspicious for a person to take, this life energy increases in strength with the passing of years, it’s a person’s vital power and light energy. With that in mind, I created Tonalli Design, as the basis of bringing client’s ideas into visual, tangible reality by creatively conceptualizing and executing each project into a smart, beautiful pleasing, informative and successful solution.
